"Paused" Series
Since my research trip to Japan I have been exploring time as a material and as a focal point in my "Paused" series. The transient quality of the natural world is an endearing feature of the natural moment, and enhances its value to the viewer. Often the opposite can be said of art; the time taken to make an artwork contributes to the eventual value of the artwork. This tension between the transient and the permanent is fascinating, and in some of my works is inherent, while in others it is the driving force behind the work.
